The 10K Sauce

These 10 lessons helped me go from 0 to 10K in 3 months.

Hopefully they'll help you too.

You DON'T need to be super original

Make It Yours
01

This is probably the main reason why my account grew as fast as it did.

You really don't need to reinvent the wheel — just take what's already working and make it yours. You probably hear that a lot, but that's cos it's true.

Here's what I usually "steal" from other creators:

  • Hooks — what they do/say in the first 3 secs
  • Formats — the type of content they make (talking head, text on screen, tutorials, storytelling, etc.)
  • Topics — what kind of ideas or problems they talk about

The format of my reel with 2.6M views? I stole that. The hook of my reel that got me over 5K followers? Stole it too.

But pleasee: don't copy word for word, bar for bar.

Use their post as inspiration, not a script.

Add your twist, your personality, your perspective.

You NEED to provide some kind of value

Give Them Something
02

If your content doesn't give people something, you won't build anything.

People don't follow you just cos your videos look cool. They follow you because they get something out of it. That could be:

  • education
  • inspiration
  • entertainment

Every post needs to hit at least one of those. Good looking videos might get views.

Valuable videos build loyal followers.

Don't gatekeep and you'll build trust

Share Everything
03

I learned very quickly that the more I shared, the more people trusted me.

I started showing everything — the tools I use, my setup, my content process, even my fuck ups. I posted a video of me struggling to say 2 sentences lmao.

By doing that, I noticed people started connecting with me way more. When you're open about what you know, people see you as someone who actually wants to help, not just flex results. That builds trust fast.

So stop trying to protect your "secrets". Document your process, share what you learn, and be real about it.

Nobody likes gatekeepers. Just be helpful — it makes you stand out.

It's not the algorithm, it's your content

Take Ownership
04

If your post didn't do well, it's not because "the algorithm hates you."

It's probably cos something in the video just didn't hit. Could be the hook, the idea, or maybe the editing. Either way, it's on us as creators to figure out what the problem is.

From my experience, it usually comes down to the hook. So yeah — if your post flops, just learn from it.

Every "bad" post is free feedback from the audience.

Shit hook = shit video

The First 3 Seconds
05

Doesn't matter if the information in your video is life changing — if your hook sucks, no one is sticking around to listen to it.

The hook is everything (ish). Make it instantly relatable, shocking, valuable, or anything that makes people go "wait, I need to see this."

Cos if you lose them in the first 3 seconds, you never had them at all.

You NEED to engage with your audience

Build Community
06

When I started creating content, I realised how much I appreciate a creator when they actually take the time to engage with me in the comments or reply to my DMs.

It makes me feel so much closer to them and it builds so much trust really fast — cos it's like, damn, you're actually real and you're talking to me. And that's the connection I want between me and you guys, my audience.

I don't want a bunch of followers who just see my content and forget about me 2 scrolls later. I wanna build an engaged community of people who actually fuck with ME as a creator and not just my content.

Reply to as many comments and messages as you possibly can.

Plus it encourages new viewers to engage with your content too, cos they know they'll be seen as well.

Just get over the fear of judgment

Nobody's Watching
07

You care way more about what people think than they actually care about you. Read that again.

I still feel weird filming at the gym sometimes, but I've learned to just push through it. Because honestly, no one's paying that much attention. Everyone's too busy worrying about themselves.

People might look for a second, but they forget about it 5 seconds later. I'm the only one overthinking it.

Once I got over that fear, everything changed. I started filming more freely, posting more confidently, and I stopped holding myself back.

Stop trying to look "cool" and just do what you gotta do.

You'll connect with the nicest online strangers

Unexpected Support
08

I said this before and I'll say it again — you'll be surprised how supportive online strangers can be.

Like bro, how are y'all so nice?? We've never even met 😭

But fr, knowing that A LOT of you guys appreciate the content I put out makes this journey soo much more fulfilling.

It really motivates me to just keep going and keep giving value.

Double down on what's working

Master the Formula
09

When you find something that works, do more of it.

If a video format, topic, or style performs well once, chances are it'll perform well again. That's what I did — I tested small variations of my best videos, changed the hook, the pacing, or the angle, and most of them popped off again.

The goal isn't to constantly chase new ideas, it's to master what already works. Because repetition isn't boring when it's valuable.

Your audience follows you for a reason — they want more of what hooked them in the first place. So don't be scared to repeat yourself.

That's how you turn one viral video into a brand.

You don't need to post every single day

Start Small
10

I only post twice a week.

Don't get me wrong — I'm not saying you shouldn't. If you can post daily, do it, cos you'll learn sooo much faster. But if the pressure of having to post EVERY SINGLE DAY stops you from even starting, you'll just never get anywhere.

So start small. Post 1–3 times a week if that's all you can do. Get comfortable with creating, then build momentum from there.

Something is better than nothing.

That's 10… but here's some extra sauce 🤝

Just cos I love y'all — four more lessons I couldn't leave out.

Just get over the fear of speaking to the camera

Show Your Face
11

My talking video with 300k views got me twice as many followers as my video with 2M views.

People trust you and connect with you more if they can see your face and hear your voice.

I hated hearing my own voice when I first started doing talking videos. But I just knew I had to get over it somehow if I wanted to build genuine connections with my audience.

I can barely speak English, so if I can do it, you can too 💀

"Best" posting times don't exist

Post When Ready
12

Forget "best times to post."

I just post whenever my video's ready.

"But your audience is asleep at 10pm…"

If your content is actually good, the algorithm will make sure they see it whenever they're on.

Hashtags don't get you views

Keywords Over Tags
13

Even Instagram's CEO Adam Mosseri said it himself — hashtags don't boost your reach.

Sure, they still help with categorizing your content and showing up in search, but they don't really push your video out to more people anymore. Instagram now cares way more about stuff like:

  • How engaging your content is
  • How real your interactions are
  • And the keywords you use in your captions and bio

I've literally never used hashtags. Instead, I write relevant keywords naturally in my captions. It helps the algorithm understand what my video's about and who to show it to.

Hashtags aren't what make you blow up — good content and real engagement do.

Find your "unfair advantage"

Your Edge
14

I know a thing or two about video editing, so I used that to stand out from a million other fitness creators.

Everyone can post workouts. Not everyone can package them well. By teaching editing and content tips, I created my own sub-niche in the fitness space.

Your unfair advantage doesn't have to be crazy. It's just something you're slightly better at than most people. Could be:

  • your personality
  • your humour
  • how you explain things
  • your storytelling
  • your editing
  • your mindset

Find your unique value, then build around it.

That's all for now
